In 2021, following three years of successful pilots, the Department for Education provided c.£220m of new funding to 151 top-tier English local authorities to co-ordinate six weeks of free holiday club provision, with healthy food and enriching activities for children and young people, aged 5-16, who are eligible for free school meals.
