Bring it on Brum! has been working alongside Snow Camp to provide teens in Birmingham with access to snow sports in the centre of the city as part of the Snow Camp First Tracks course. The programme enabled teens aged 13-16 to learn how to ski or snowboard and take part in life skills sessions focusing on independence, responsibility, confidence and self-esteem.

Over the two days, young people are not only taught the skills needed to succeed at the sport but are given access to Snow Camp Wellbeing Managers who are professional counsellors and are on hand to lend an ear while providing additional advice and guidance.

“It was great to be able to provide local young people with the opportunity to learn to ski in the middle of Birmingham during their school holidays. Not only did participants try a new physical activity, but they got involved with everything that Snow Camp is about – taking part in life skills sessions, wellbeing workshops and enjoyed meeting other young people from across the city. We enjoyed working with Bring it on Brum! to be able to provide this opportunity and we look forward to welcoming more Birmingham young people to Snow Camp again to continue their skiing and personal development!” Lydia, Snow Camp Programme Manager

“Thanks to organisations such as Snow Camp, Bring it on Brum! have been able to connect young people across the city with once-in-a-lifetime experiences right on their doorstep.” Matt James, Area Lead Bring it on Brum!
